Article date: 02.09.10
TWCP Partners Tim Anstee and Karen Rayner of The Wealth Care Partnership have recently achieved SOLLA accreditation. “As an organisation working with elderly clients we felt it was important for us to be able to demonstrate our commitment to clients by ensuring we keep our knowledge and skills at the highest possible level” states Tim Anstee. He continues “We specialise in helping our clients and their families plan for their retirement years and for the complexities of the decisions they may face if funding for care becomes necessary. We believe this Accreditation will provide our clients with peace of mind knowing they are dealing with Advisers who are professionally qualified and who have taken further steps to become independently accredited.”
SOLLA was founded in 2008 as a not for profit organisation, to meet the need of consumers, advisers and those who provide financial products and services to the Later Life market. Its aim is to ensure that consumers are better informed about the financial issues of later life. (Taken from the SOLLA website www.societyoflaterlifeadvisers.co.uk)
The Later Life Adviser Accreditation Scheme has been developed by the standard-setting body the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) in collaboration with the specialist financial services consultancy SVARfair. A SOLLA Later Life Handbook has been produced and in the foreword to the Handbook the Honorary President of SOLLA, Lord David Lipsey writes:
“Few people enjoy thinking about the last years of their life. Just at a time when you want to be contemplating your passing away, you are beset by a whole range of difficult problems, personal and financial.
Sadly, things are not made simple. Just to know what if anything you can get from the state and what you have to do from your accumulated wealth is a challenge. It is a particular challenge when the mind may not be as clear as once it was and when it is so easy to become anxious about doing the wrong thing.
Older people need help. They do not just need the kind help they can hope to get from friends and relatives but the kind of help that requires real expertise. This is what independent financial advisers working with older people are in the business of providing."
