The Queen did indeed speak of the proposal to introduce free personal care for those with the highest need; however Symponia believes that sadly, this is a real case of much too little, much too late.

Minimum Retirement Ages Increased from 50 to 55

New rules relating to pensions came into force on 6 April 2006. One of the many changes introduced is that the minimum age at which you can access your pension benefits will increase from 50 to 55. This change affects all pension schemes and will apply from 6th April 2010 onwards.

The Welsh Assembly Government has given notice that no further claims for financial compensation arising from eligibility for Continuing NHS Health Care which relate to the period 1 April 1996 to 31 March 2003 will be considered if they are submitted after 4 December 2009. Claims which relate to later periods are unaffected.
